Ready, Willing, and Able! #HD34 #2016

State Representative Abel Herrero, D-Robstown, announced that he will seek a sixth term in the Texas House of Representatives serving District 34.

“It has been an honor and a privilege to serve the Coastal Bend area, and it is my hope that the citizens of Nueces County will allow me to continue representing them,” Rep. Herrero said. “There is much more work to be done and I am committed to fighting to ensure that our local communities and Texas continue to move forward.”

First elected in 2004, Rep. Herrero has worked hard to ensure that the priorities of the Coastal Bend are addressed in the Texas Legislature. Throughout his time in office, Rep. Herrero has been a strong advocate for prioritizing public education, ending family violence, and ensuring that the Coastal Bend area continues its economic prosperity.

During the 84th Legislative Session, Rep. Herrero continued to be a strong voice for public education. If re-elected, he will continue to fight to ensure teachers have the tools they need to guide Texas children to success. Also, as Chair of the House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence, Rep. Herrero worked with constituents and fellow committee members to form policies that will help end family violence and improve public safety for all Texans.

“I am ready, willing, and able to keep fighting for the issues most important to the Coastal Bend, such as improving our pubilc schools, securing our state’s economic growth, and working to end family violence,“ Rep. Herrero said. “Only by working together can we ensure that our communities continue to thrive.”

Rep. Herrero is now serving his fifth term as a member of the Texas House of Representatives. He currently chairs the House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence and serves on the House Committee on Energy Resources. He represents District 34, which includes Robstown, Bishop, Banquete, Petronila, Agua Dulce, Driscoll and parts of Corpus Christi and Sandia.

House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence Receives Interim Charges

The House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence received interim charges, including one that could pave the way to ending family violence once and for all. We all have a stake in finding ways to ensure everyone is safe from crime. I look forward to working with constituents and fellow committee members to form sound policy recommendations that will improve public safety for all Texans.
